General Instructions :
i. This Question paper is divided into four sections-Section A, B, C and D
ii. All questions are compulsory.
iii. Section-A: Question no. 1 to 4 are Short Answer type questions of 3 marks each. Answer to each question should not exceed 80 words.
iv. Section-B: Question no. 5 to 7 are Long Answer type questions, carrying 6 marks. Answer to this question should not exceed 150-200 words.
v. Section-C: Question no. 8 and 9 are Case Based questions, carrying 4 marks each with subparts.
vii. Section-D: Question no. 10 is map based, carrying 2 marks
viii. There is no overall choice in the question paper. However, an internal choice has
been provided in a few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions have to be attempted.
ix. In addition to this, separate instructions are given with each section and question, wherever necessary.

SECTION C: CASE BASED QUESTIONS
8. नीचे दिए गए स्रोत को पढ़िए और नीचे दिए गए प्रश्नों के उत्तर दीजिये |
यह दिलचस्प है कि एक दुसरे लेखक, वाशिन्ग्त्न इरविग ने , जो वर्ड्सवर्थ से खासे छोटे थे और जो मूल निवासियों से सचमुच मिले थे, उनका वर्णन बिलकुल भिन्न रूप में किया | “ जिन इंडियंस असली जिन्दगी को देखने का मुझे मौक़ा मिला, वे कविताओं में वर्णित अपने रूप से काफी भिन्न है | यह सच है कि गोर लोगो जिनकी नीयत पर वे भरोसा नहीं करते और जिनकी भाषा भी नहीं समझते, की संगत में रहने पर वे काफी कम बोलते है | पर परिस्थितियाँ वैसी ही हों, तो गोरा आदमी भी उन्हीं की तरह अल्पभाषी हो जाता है | ये इंडियंस जब अपनों के बीच होते है, तो वे नकल उतारने के उस्ताद साबित होते है और गोरों की नकल उतार कर अपना खूब मनोरंजन करते है .............. वही गोरे, जो समझते है कि इंडियंस को वे अपनी भव्यता और गरीमा के प्रति गहरे आदरभाव से ओत-प्रोत क्र चुके है|....... गोरे लोग गरीब इंडियंस के साथ ऐसे पेश आते है ( मैं इसका साक्षी हूँ ) मानो उनमें और जानवरों में बहुत कम फर्क हो |”

It is interesting to note that another writer, Washington Irving, much younger than Wordsworth and who had actually met native people, described them quite differently.
‘The Indians I have had an opportunity of seeing in real life are quite different from those described in poetry…Taciturn they are, it is true, when in company with white men, whose goodwill they distrust and whose language they do not understand; but the white man is equally taciturn under like circumstances. When the Indians are among themselves, they are great mimics, and entertain themselves excessively at the expense of the whites… who have supposed them impressed with profound respect for their grandeur and dignity… The white men (as I have witnessed) are prone to treat the poor Indians as little better than animals.’
