*  मौर्य साम्राज्य के  पतनोपरान्त भारत पर पश्चिमोतर  से विदेशियों का आक्रमण आरम्भ हुआ | इसमे सर्वप्रथम बल्ख(   बैक्ट्रिया) के यवन शासक थे  | इन्ही शासकों को इन्डो-ग्रीक ( हिन्द -यवन ) शासक कहा जाता है |

* नागसेन रचित " मिलिन्द्पन्हो"
* क्षेमेन्द्र कृत " अवदानाकल्पलता"
* हेलियोडोरस के बेसनगर (विदिशा ) से प्राप्त गरूड़ स्तम्भ लेख
* हिन्द- यवन शासकों के प्राप्त सिक्के
*  उत्तर -पश्चिम में स्वर्ण सिक्कों का प्रचलन सर्वप्रथम यवन शासकों  ने ही चलवाया था |
*  यवनों के चांदी के सिक्के  " द्रुम" कहा जाता था |
इतिहास :
*   भारत पर सबसे पहले आक्रमण करने वाला इन्डो-ग्रीक  शासक  " ड़ीमेट्रियास" था , उसने 190 ई० पू० भारत के सिंध तथा पंजाब के प्रदेशों तक विजय की |
* पतंजलि के " महाभाष्य " , गार्गी संहिता ,  मालाविकाग्निमित्रा , से पता चलता है की पुष्यमित्र शुंग के शासनकाल मे  ड़ीमेट्रियास ने आक्रमण किया था
* ड़ीमेट्रियास की राजधानी  " शाकल "(स्यालकोट) थी |
* ड़ीमेट्रियास के बाद युक्रेटाइडीज ने झेलम नदी तक विजय  हासिल किया था |
* हिन्द-यूनानी शासकों में सबसे प्रतापी  शासक " मिनांडर" हुआ  जो  डीमेत्रीयस का छोटा भाई था और उसका शासनकाल  165-145 ई० पू० तक था |
* इसने अपनी राजधानी  " शाकल" (सियालकोट) " को बनाया |
* मिनांडर  ने बौद्व भिक्षु नागसेन से बौद्व धर्म की दीक्षा ली | इन दोनों की वार्तालाप  नागसेन द्वारा रचित ग्रन्थ  " मिलिन्दपन्हो" में उल्लेख  मिलता है |
 * हिन्द-यूनानी  शासकों ने भारत के पश्चिमोतर सीमा प्रदेशों में " हेलेनिस्टिक आर्ट " कला चलाई |

After the fall of the Mauryan Empire, the invasion of foreigners from India started from the northwest. The first Yavana ruler of Balkh (Bactria) was in this. These rulers are called Indo-Greek (Indo-Yavan) rulers.

* Indo-Yavan rulers received coins
* In the northwest, the coins of gold coins were first introduced by the Yavan rulers.
* The silver coins of the Yavanas were called "Drum".

History :
The first Indo-Greek ruler to attack India was "Dimetrias", he conquered the territories of Sindh and Punjab of India in 190 BC.
* Patanjali's "Mahabhashya", Gargi Samhita, Malavikagnimitra, shows that Dimitrias invaded during the reign of Pushyamitra Sunga.
* The capital of Dimitrias was "Shakal" (Syalkot).
After Dimetrias, Eukratides conquered the Jhelum River.
The most powerful ruler of the Indo-Greek rulers was "Minander", the younger brother of Demetrius, and his reign was from 165-145 BC.
* It made its capital "Shakal" (Sialkot) ".
* Minander initiated Buddhism from Buddhist monk Nagasen. The conversation of these two is mentioned in the book "Milindapanho" composed by Nagasen.
 * Indo-Greek rulers introduced "Hellenistic art" art to the northwestern border regions of India.
