Why is Gupta period regarded as the golden age of Indian History?

Gupta age (04th to 6th CE) represented of that Ancient Indian History during which remarkable achievement in different spheres of Administration economical, Art and literature, science and technology, medicine , etc.

Administration:
      *   The decline of Maurya Empire and before the rise of Gupta empire unity and integrity of India shattered .Many small Kingdoms emerged in between time in india . There was a lack of strong centralized power .
      *      Gupta empire made politically unification of india after long period of more than 500 years after the decline of Maurya Empire .
       *.     In Gupta age , A number of powerful and efficient rulers came to power and peacefully ruled over all over india . Like great emperors in Gupta age - chandragupt -I ,  Samudragupt, Chandragupt-II , Kumaragupt , Skandagupt .
          *  Above rulers established strong administrative system which created good atmosphere for the emergence of Art, science and technology, Literature etc.

Economy:
   * The economy system of Gupta age was in good condition . A prosperous progress seemed in the field of Agriculture , Industry , and trade .
   *.  According to chinese traveller Fa-hien,   All the cities people rich and happy. Standard of life style was much better than any other empire of the world .
  *.    It is also imagine , the Gupta emperors issued the largest number of gold coins which were called "Dinaras" in their inscription.

Art and Literature :-
          *.   Gupta Rulers foned of Art and literature. Example , Samudragupt was represented playing the Vina on his coins and there were nine luminaries in the court of Chandragupt -II .
      *   During the Gupta age  , Vedic religion emerged on top . Most of the rulers were follower of Vaishnav sect .Which is showed in the junagadh and eran-inscription .
  *. Ajanta caves and Nagarjunkonda vihar were finest art of this period .
* The Gupta age is remarkable for the production of secular Literature. Kalidas , Amar Singh were important writer .

Science and Technology
  *.      Gupta period was vital witnessed of remarkable progress in science and technology. Aryabhatt, Varahamihir , brahm gupt , dhanvantari etc were main scientist and astrologist of this period .
* Mehrauli Iron Pillar manufactured was good example of crafts of this Gupta era .
 
              However , it also noted that some field of Gupta period did not get progress. Example - Social system. Caste system and untouchability made deep root in the society . It is also noted ,Sati Pratha occured  during Gupta period .
